Christmas is a time to be with
family, and, as mine is a little far away, I thought it would be nice to spend it with my second family - my host family in
Switzerland. I flew to Basel, from the handy London City
airport, on Friday morning. Jacques and Nini met me at la gare de Bienne when I
arrived at about 2pm. It was great to be "home" again!

Noël est la saison d’être
avec famille, et, comme la mienne est trop loin, j'ai pensé ce serais agréable pour passer la fête avec ma deuxième famille
- ma famille d'acceuil en Suisse. J'ai volé à Bâle vendredi matin, de l'aéroport London City. Jacques et Nini m'ont rencontré
à la gare de Bienne quand je suis arrivée à 14h. C’était super d’être « chez moi » de nouveau!

Nothing much has changed at the house since I left, other than the kids growing up!
I spent the afternoon doing not a lot, with Jacques, Sylvie and Nini at the house.
That evening, Christmas Eve, Sylvie's family (her mother, two sisters, their husbands/partners and two nieces and four
nephews!) joined us to make a party of 19 for Christmas dinner! Jacques and Sylvie
had been cooking for much of the day, and we had a delicious, non-traditional Christmas dinner. There was of course plenty of wine from Jacques' wine cellar (dating from 1979) to accompany dinner. In between courses the "secret santa" gifts were given out. After all that wine, and chocolate, I headed off to bed while the party was still going, at about 1:30am!

Rien n'a changé à la maison,
autrement que mes frères and soeurs qui ont grandi! J'ai passé l'après-midi en
ne faisant pas beaucoup, avec Jacques, Sylvie et Nini à la maison. Ce soir, la
veille de Noël, la famille de Sylvie (sa mère, deux soeurs, leurs maris/partenaires et deux nièces et quatre neveux!) sont
venus et on était 19 pour le repas de Noël! Jacques et Sylvie avaient cuisiné
pour une bonne partie du jour, et nous avions un repas de Noël délicieux et non traditionnel. Il y avait bien sûr beaucoup
de vin de la cave de Jacques (datant de 1979) pour accompagner le dîner. Pendant
le repas, les cadeaux ont été donnés. Après tout ce vin, et ce chocolat, j'ai dirigé de coucher pendant que la fête continuait,
vers 0130h!
