We walked eastwards, past the Castel Sant'Angelo, and then to the Piazza Navona where there was a Christmas market and impressive fountain by Bernini, the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi.

We then went to the Pantheon, which I really liked.  It was first built on this site in 25 BC as a temple to all gods, and was rebuilt in 120 AD!  From the front you can’t tell, but inside it is round, with a hole in the top.  A sign told us that yes, the rain does come in, but there is a drainage system to get rid of it.

We then stopped at the Trevi Fountain where I threw a coin over my shoulder to ensure my return to Rome, and then two more to ensure my wish comes true!  The fountain is gorgeous and just seems to grow out of the building onto which it backs.  The square around the fountain was small and bustled with people.

The Trevi Fountain was quite amazing - it looked as if it was growing out of the building behind it

We headed north to the Piazza di Spagna, or the Spanish Steps.  There was a lovely festive feel about this square, with music and carols playing.
