I haven't updated my "latest news" since 16 August! I must have been
busy…
That weekend I had just back from Manchester where I visited Kat and Andy
for their birthday party. I went back to Manchester two weeks later for a long weekend with them in the Lake District.
It was so nice to get out of London for a decent amount of time - even four days away is such a nice break. Click here to see a few photos.
A few days after that Kimberley arrived back in town for her last stint
in London before heading home after her three-month tour of Europe. It was great to see her again, not to mention to
have her around to cook dinner, which she did often and well! We had a busy weekend - Friday evening we met her friend
Andrew for a few drinks and on Saturday night we went to Eram's house party. The weather was gorgeous that weekend and
on Saturday we spent the afternoon in Regent's Park, taking in some sun. We did the same on Sunday, in Hyde Park, and
also spent a couple of hours in Harrods, which was, I thought, quite cool (not least of all because it was air-conditioned
and it must have been at least 27 outside!).
Kimberley left on Tuesday morning, after cooking Andrew and me a three-course
meal on Monday ngith. Even without her here I've been keeping busy during the past few weeks - cinema with Eram, out
drinking with Ben, out to the local comedy club with friends, out drinking in Hoxton Square, and I've even been on a quite
a few dates in recent weeks! Yesterday Eram and I were on a course for work, after which I got in a couple of hundred
pounds of shopping before Joe's leaving work drinks and curry. Today I've been catching up on emails while watching
the cricket get rained out at the Oval.
Sunday 25 September
My social diary has been a little quieter during the last couple of weeks. I had a quiet week leading up to last
weekend, when I got up at 3am on Friday morning to go to Spain! I had been so looking forward to the break - five days
lying in the sun doing nothing more than reading novels, eating when hungry and sliding in to the pool when it go too hot.
So that's what I did! It was just what I needed.
I went back to work on Wednesday to find, of course, that things were busy! I only had two days in the office
as I had a course on Friday, so I was busy for a couple of days, and will be busy again next week, as I am once again away
from Friday! I am off to Munich on Thursday night for the Oktoberfest. Then after a couple of days of beer, I
am taking a night train all the way to Naples, where I'll meet Tanya for a week. Can't wait!
I was out Thursday night with the girls and Friday night for work drinks, but other than that, my evenings have been
a bit quiet still. I must get onto that!

Tuesday 1 November
Oh dear, I have been so slack with my "weekly" journals - it's been over
a month since I last wrote. That is a sad sign that I haven't been up to very much, I am afraid. I have been to
Oktoberfest and Italy in October but other than that I have had a very uneventful month. I've been sick the last two
weeks, coughing up my lungs, which is becoming quite annoying now! It has also put a complete stop to my new gym programme,
which seems to happen to me at this time of the year. In between episodes on the couch, I have managed to get to the
theatre with Jennifer. We went to the West End production of "A Few Good Men", with Rob Lowe. It was really, really
good. Honestly, other than that and a few nights out on the turps (which won't have helped my sore throat, I know!),
I haven't been busy. I have brightened up the living room though with potplants and lilies from the Columbia Road Flower
Market, so at least it's pleasant here on the couch…
Saturday 19 November My big news this week
is that I have got another job. Again. This time I'm off to do the same job (although "acting up" as team manager
for the first couple of months!) for the Royal Borough of Kingston. I wasn't looking for a job at all, being quite happy
where I was at LB Havering. I had all my agents on strict intructions not to call except for an exceptional opportunity
for amazing money. And this job is amazing money. It wasn't an easy decision but after drawing up a "pros and
cons" list, I decided to go to the interview and give it a go. Not to sound immodest, but I knew I needed to be prepared
to take the job before I went to the interview - I was confident I'd get an offer. And sure enough I did. And
hey, I couldn't turn down the chance to put a "Royal" borough on my CV! So next Thursday I start! The only down-side,
apart from leaving LBH and Eram, is the long commute I will now have. I hate commuting... Other than that
I seem to have managed to get sick again, after feeling better last week. But I guess when you look at what I did, it's not
too surprising. After three weeks of taking it easy and not even going to the gym, I went back to the gym four times
last week, went out on Wednesday night to the theatre, Thursday night out drinking with girlfriends Jacqui and Marie and out
Friday night to the comedy club with Ben. Hmmmm, perhaps that's why by Saturday my cough was back with a vengence and
by Wednesday I'd lost my voice completely and had to go home early from work! Can you imagine me without my voice? No,
me neither. Last Wednesday was a good day actually (that's the Wednesday before the one I lost my voice!).
I had no plans after work so decided on a whim to pop into town to pick up a skirt that I had tailored. I then did a
little shopping and, on my way back to the bus stop, thought, perhaps I'll go to the theatre. I stopped into the first
theatre I saw (it was playing an Agatha Christie thriller), got a Row B ticket for £15 and sat and enjoyed a great play.
That is what I love about London! I know how lucky I am and I am going to take full advantage of it for the next year,
before heading home at the end of 2006 to settle down in NewZild. Oh yes, and Tanya and I booked our Christmas
holiday this week - 15 days in Egypt. Can't wait!
